Farm Update 3/4/23

Wild Child Farm Community!

We are under snow right now, but that’s not stopping our growth. Our trusty high tunnels have been battered by wind and covered by snow, but springs crops are nestled comfortably inside.

We look forward to seeing all the faces at our first CSA pickup at Shining Mountain Waldorf School (high school lot, details available on the website). We have planned a few more details that are outlined below:

·      Customers will be given 2 WCF totes per veggie and/or meat share

·      Customers will be asked to return their bag from the week prior when they pick up their weekly or monthly share

·      We would love for you to return any packaging that is in good shape and clean! This includes egg cartons and “bio-plastic” containers for microgreens, etc.

We are proud to have partnered with Boulder Valley Honey to offer local, responsibly harvested, and supremely delicious honey. Chris Borke is a local beekeeper and, in our humble opinion, is a bee genius. We can see one of his arrays of beehives from the back field. We enjoy hosting his bees on our blossoms! Here is their mission statement:

“We are Colorado beekeepers focused on sustainable apiaries that produce local honey of the highest quality. Each jar of honey comes with its own story from an interesting seasons of forage to bears in the yard. Bees live throughout the foothills, and have been selected and nurtured for hardiness throughout our dynamic local environs. Our mission is to provide a robust management practice that supports happy healthy bees that can produce a surplus of honey for all to enjoy. We do this by employing organic and regenerative processes that ensure our bees thrive year after year.”

Farm family members are formulating the most delicious chocolate chip cookie recipe! Since we don’t farm wheat, we are using Moxie flour, Wild Child Farm eggs, and Fair-trade organic chocolate. We will have fresh chocolate chip cookies at the CSA pickup table! You will also find honey, Wild Child Farm merch, and other local products for sale!

Saturday June 3rd from 1pm to 3pm we are hosting a farm tour/meet and greet for members to meet our fantastic team of farmers and interns.  We are very excited to show you all the hard work we have been doing. Refreshments included. Mark your calendars and keep your eye out for the official invitation and sign-up.

If you are interested in purchasing eggs before your CSA share begins, go to https://wildchildfarm.eatfromfarms.com/product/eggs-ready-now

We also have a limited number of meat and egg shares and have only a few veggie shares left! We would love it if you would spread the word for us and help us fill up our spots!

Thank you all! Stay Wild!
