Veggie Storage Tips!
Radish
Wrap the radishes in a damp paper towel, and either put this in a plastic storage bag or leave it as is, and find room for your little bundle in the crisper drawer
Beets
Leave them unwashed as excess moisture can make beets go bad more quickly, but chop off all but two inches of the stem. Refrigerate in the crisper drawer.
Dill
Wash the dill in cold water, remove excess moisture with a salad spinner, and wrap the bundle of dill in several damp paper towels. Place the wrapped stems and leaves in a plastic bag or airtight container. Store in the crisper drawer for up to two weeks.
Green Onion
Wrap gently in a damp paper towel, tuck them into an airtight zip-top bag, and store them in the crisper drawer of your refrigerator.
Parsley
Fill a jar with about an inch of water. Place parsley, stems down, in the water (like a bouquet of flowers). Store in the refrigerator.
Onion
Store in a cool, dry, well-ventilated space out of direct sunlight.
Cilantro
Fill a jar with about an inch of water. Place cilantro, stems down, in the water (like a bouquet of flowers). Place a reusable plastic or silicone bag over the leaves and secure the bag at the mouth of the jar with a rubber band. Store in the refrigerator.
Cucumbers
Store in the crisper drawer of fridge or to make it last even longer, wrap the whole cucumber in plastic wrap and then store it in an airtight container.
Basil
Trim the stems at a 45 degree angle, like a bouquet of flowers. Put it in a jar with the stems in water and cover loosely with a plastic bag. Store at room temperature, trimming the stems and replacing the water occasionally.
Kale
wrap the leaves on a layer of clean paper towels, about 2-3 at a time, and store in the crisper drawer in fridge.
Lettuce Mix
After opening the bag of salad leaves, you'll want to continue minimizing condensation in the container. Place a clean paper towel inside the bag and seal it with a chip clip. Store in the fridge.
Spinach
Wrap in a paper towel and place in a sealed storage container or bag in the crisper drawer of your fridge. If your spinach isn't in an airtight container, avoid storing it next to ethylene-producing fruits (such as bananas and apples).
Chard
Wrap the stalks in a slightly damp paper towel or cloth and place in an open plastic bag or perforated plastic bag in the crisper drawer of your refrigerator.
Microgreens
Place them in a resealable plastic bag or container with the lid on and store in the refrigerator.
Arugula
Wrap in damp paper towels or a damp cloth, place it in a plastic bag or container and keep it in the refrigerator's crisper drawer.
Bok Choy
Pry the stems apart and store in a zip-top bag in your refrigerator's vegetable drawer
Zucchini
Store fresh zucchini in a paper bag in the refrigerator if you plan to use it more than a few days after receiving. The whole zucchini will remain fresh for more than a week if you store it in a crisper drawer or paper bag that allows air circulation and prevents wilting.
Snap Peas
Refrigerate in a plastic bag or freeze by blanching in boiling water for 1 minute, followed by an ice bath. Drain and place them in a ziplock bag in the freezer.
Carrots
Hold off on peeling the skin and keep them in an airtight container submerged in water to last longer. The carrot greens can also be used for pesto!
